Balayage, meaning "to sweep" in French, is a hand-painting technique where the colorist applies highlights directly onto the hair, rather than using foil to separate sections.
Lena Ott, the founder of Suite Caroline, and Mauricio Bermúdez, a master colorist, honed their skills under the guidance of the esteemed hair colorist Laurie Foley, a pioneer in the art of Balayage.
During the early 2000s, Ott was fortunate to gain insights from another Balayage trailblazer, the Parisian colorist Stéphane Pous, and from there, Ott developed her signature style of hand-painted highlights that attracts top talent in the fashion and entertainment industries. This uniquely stylish and modern approach to painting is not only passed down but also collaboratively embraced and shared with the talented team at Suite Caroline.
